The predecessors of the book vendors first appeared in the 16th century, at a time when the printing press had already profoundly transformed the circulation of books. It was in 1891 that their stalls took on the form we’ve come to know so well, with those famous green “booths.”
A French sculptor, Nicolas Lefebvre has developed a unique body of work in which ancient objects, civilizations, and eras engage in a dialogue with one another. Each of his creations is a convergence of memory, history, and cultural heritage. By assembling forms, materials, and fragments of the past, he creates an artistic language that explores our relationship with time and the transmission of heritage.
